Groundies are the new Selfies!

Getting bored of taking selfies? Say hello to groundie! Now don’t give that tale that you haven’t heard of it. Or probably you were on a long vacation to Antarctica when groundies made the debut. I’ll just as well fill you in.

Remember when selfies went viral and everybody just had to take a selfie everywhere they went and with everything they ate. We all saw what the selfie plague did to us; the toilet mirror and the car selfies, sleep selfies, the food in mouth selfies and the now fast-becoming-a-trend irritating nude selfies.

If you really look at it, selfies are fast becoming boring. So why take just a shot of your face when you can take a whole shot of you on the ground. At first, the first sets of groundies were sort of like a gimmick to imitate funny studio poses. But when the pictures made the rounds and became viral on Facebook and Instagram, people started taking and posting pictures of their own groundies. Spreading themselves all over the floor, stairs, pavement, open field, and the daring ones took theirs to the express roads (I’d advise you not to try this one). Can’t particularly tell who started this trend though, but I’ve give the credit to Nigerians for making it popular.

These next pics are just hilarious.

Imagine his reaction if he had gotten bitten by a snake.

I tell you groundies are fast becoming the in thing, and I’m sure you don’t want to be left out. For me they’re just the perfect pose for a picnic, beach, pre-wedding shots, and a magazine cover photo. You need just these 3 things to take the perfect groundie; you, the floor, and a creative setting. While you’re chewing on that, let me take a groundie!

How to look PERFECT in knotted wrapper

If there is one fashion trend making the waves in 2014, it’s the knotted wrappers! Take it or leave it. It’s purely African with a blend of chic and sexy.

How about showing up in a wedding, beach cocktail party, or even a baby shower in knotted wrapper. Oh yeah…if you do know that feeling you get when you’re looking fashionably awesome. Wearing a knotted wrapper is not that difficult to pull off, even if many ladies have properly dropped their African wrapper for western clothes.

Here is how to pull of that sexy knotted wrapper look. This look has gone beyond African prints(Ankara), and is now been explored with several other sweet materials like silk satin, velvet, lace, George etc.

First to tie a wrapper properly, you need to make sure the front and the back are equal so one isn't longer than the rest. Then you open your legs wide so when you tie you don’t have problem walking. For those who don’t know exactly how to tie the knot, this is what you do. When you've taken your wrapper round, you leave the tips out so you can tie those two together into a knot. Then you bring both ends together and move both ends to opposing sides, after which you make a double twist from one end to the other and tie it at the back. Tuck your loose ends in and you’re good to go.
